Duties and Responsibilities

This position provides planning, analysis, testing, debugging and install support for various University administrative and departmental information systems, with a primary focus on the Student Information System (LOCUS).
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates systems and user needs. Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall University and ITS strategies.
- Responsible for working with client departments to discover and document requirements for information systems.
- Responsible for working with developers and/or vendors to understand requirements, resolve technical issues, and adhere to division and University standards for technology and systems.
- Responsibilities include coordination of testing, maintaining integrity of University data and systems and working in a timely way to resolve problems.
- Provides project management and analysis skills to multiple system development and implementation projects.
- Follows standards, policies and procedures of University and ITS division to meet project goals and objectives.
- Ensures proper functioning of designated University administrative and departmental systems and plans for and makes upgrades as necessary.
- Works with the University’s academic and administrative units to develop and implement new information systems and services as assigned by ITS management.
- Helps clients to understand and utilize our information systems to improve their efficiency and provide improved services.
- Works with developers (or codes software, depending on skills and complexity) and other ITS colleagues to meet the technical needs for assigned projects, consistent with division and department standards for technology and systems.
- Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in information technologies or equivalent experience with at least 2 years of experience in the field or related experience. Higher education experience is a plus.


- Excellent client facing skills including exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent documentation skills, and must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence and technical manuals. Must be able to effectively present information (verbal and written) and respond to questions from peers and other Loyola staff, faculty, and students.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to understand and apply concepts such as resource utilization, work effort, percent to complete and project health.
- Must be detail oriented, results focused, possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and be able to support change management initiatives.
- Ability to manage multiple projects is a must.

- Higher education experience is a plus. Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft applications is highly desirable.

- Flexible schedule is required. The majority of the work for this position will occur within the standard work week. However, this position will be on-call, and may need to work during off-hours to respond to problems or complete implementations.

Computer Skills

- Familiarity with relational database concepts and tools including SQL and SQL developer tools.
- Technical experience/knowledge with web application and client/server applications such as Oracle PeopleSoft HCM/Finance/Campus Solutions or other ERP solutions.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft architecture and tools, including how components and pages use css3 layout styles for responsive user interfaces.
- Familiarity with basic web development skills including HTML5 and JavaScript.
- Experience with requirements gathering and documentation.
- Understanding of basic server management principles.
- Knowledge of project management concepts and practices.
